SEGA Joypad in a PC

Adioz, gya.. do you still remember when the SEGA Genesis/Mega drive come in the market on late 1993/1994? yes! i had one, the SEGA Mega Drive 2 with dual controller. Now, the console rest in it’s box since i dont have new game cart. But, hey.. i have two unused SEGA joypad. Imagine if i can use this joypad in the computer. Whoa.. that’s great idea.. start surfing and searching for SEGA joypad schematic.
ups, i got one, the NTPAD web site (http://www.ntpad.com.ar). Yes, from that web site i have an idea to build my SEGA to PC Joypad Adapter (I call it S2P Adapter).

What would you need:
1. A Male version of DB-25 Connector
2. Two Male version of DB-9 Connector
3. 3 Diode (1N4148 or 1N914)
4. About 2 Meters Rainbow Cable (It’s contain 10 cable at once)
5. Soldering iron
6. Timah (what is this called in english?) :D

First, you must read the schematic diagram (see here)

You can see that we will build two connector connected into one parallel port, so you can play Mortal Kombat with your brother.

1. Solder all diode into pin 14, 16 and 17 of DB-25.
LPT and Diode

2. Solder all wires for Joypad 1 into pin 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 18, 19 and the other end of 3 diode.

3 Solder all wires for Joypad 2 into pin 1, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19 and the other end of 3 diode.
Solder the LPT pin

4. Finally, wires all soldered cables from DB-25 into it’s own pin on DB-9.
Wired all wire

5. Finish. Buy or use your unused SEGA joypad, connect it into this adapter and plug the adapter into parallel port.

6. Download the NTPAD driver, and enjoy you new game adventure using the SEGA Megadrive Joypad!!
